But it wasn’t until the NYC Porn Festival where we met Cindy Gallop and saw the selection of videos from MLNP website that we were truly inspired. We couldn’t believe how close the philosophy and principles guiding the community are to our own when it comes to making love and recording it. We simply had to try it for ourselves!

 We took all the guidelines to heart and decided to make a video this time with intention to post it on MLNP. Shooting our first “real” movie that we knew others will see was very exciting. Luckily we had a few experiences under our belt and the camera no longer intimidates us. Being able to see what we are shooting (thanks to integrated technological advances like viewing it on the remote screen) while we were in the act gave it a special excitement factor and we truly felt like we were being watched. Since we often take on multiple roles in the process (star, director, audience) it truly felt visceral and otherworldly.

We always thought that if everyone had such good sex the world wouldn’t have half as many problems. We have been thinking how we can pass on our legacy and show how we do it and maybe embolden others to try and discover their own way to feeling desired, loved, celebrated, worshipped, devoured, but also being active in the act of love.

I love dressing up, it becomes part of my foreplay, like a ritual, my mind clears and prepares to receive pleasure and to give pleasure. It also deals nicely with my bodily insecurities and helps me deal with imperfections which later on bothers me less when I see them on camera.  Let us begin with a word of thanks for a hot, hot, HOT welcome by the MLNP community. Without a doubt we have come to the right place and we feel like we have finally arrived! And we have been busy at making more love and more movies so we can continue to grow this beautiful new relationship.

 The idea for “Morning Glory (Preludes)” started with the first ever sex scene we recorded last year when one night we decided to have some fun and dusted off the old digital Elf and even older tripod. The scene was very sexy, but the lighting sucked ass (and that’s Rick’s job!) so while we still watch it fondly it’s not up to par to be shared with anyone. So when we found ourselves sans kids one bright weekday morning we knew this had to be tried again. What resulted was a series of lovely frames capturing the foreplay and lovemaking session that eventually moves from the kitchen to the bed and we gladly take turns giving and receiving pleasure until the final dissolution…

Having shared one movie with rave reviews we didn’t want to rest on the laurels and took it to the next level. More cameras, more angles, more frames. One of the main ideas we had was a ceiling mounted rig we devised for use with our cell phones or the main camcorder. The results exceeded our expectations. Needless to say we are very proud of the second movie and I hope you all like it too!

 What I want to talk about is how the process of making steamy videos (we have one more already shot and next in line for editing, and another brewing in our heads already) has enriched our sex life. It was far from boring to begin with, but making movies led us to total sexplosion.

We think about sex a lot more, we talk about it more often and we bounce ideas off of each other.  We discuss our boundaries, what we are comfortable showing and our overall feelings about the process and the total enjoyment of it. We feel like we are in the secret club of some sort and it gives us a thrill each time we turn the camera on to record something.

Incidentally when we are making love off camera I find myself more and more often thinking “oh, this would look great from above” or “we have to do this again on camera!”. The camera awareness is slowly getting meshed into the lovemaking and that means we are getting a lot of really nice looking scenes almost effortlessly. Almost.

Then there’s the editing, which roughly 2 months ago I had no idea how to do, I didn’t even know I had the basic Windows Movie Maker on my laptop. In the beginning it felt a bit awkward but I am decent at learning new tools and I quickly got a basic understanding of how to move around the program. With this second movie I really had fun and while it took a long time to cut it into the final shape, the process also taught me a few shortcuts which I hope to perfect with all the future creations. Overall I think I am enjoying the power (MWAHAHAHAHA) but I still welcome input from Rick (any INPUT), which really helps keeping the final result balanced and one we can both be proud of.

Finally I want to mention where my head really has been with regards to recording most intimate moments of our lives and sharing it online. It is and always will be a form of artistic expression no different than a painting or a love song or a contemporary dance routine.

We feel like we have all these “words” or “moves” that need to be shared with others so they too can be inspired to make beautiful love to each other, whether anyone will see it or not. In a sense we are creating a new Kama Sutra for the modern world using the tools of the new age. Because writing a book would not cut it anymore, would it?

“Full Moon Swoon” is a sequel to “Morning Glory” – hence the same outfit and accessories. We wanted to have this whole day and night experience and feel. It was shot at night with an industrial strength light and it was really hot. I mean HOT – literally. We learned a lot about lighting for videos. Needless to say we will soon be investing in some COOL professional soft box lights or two.

I want to spend a moment to talk about my new fascination with editing. It’s time consuming and at times confusing work – especially when you have more than one angle shot at the same time. The process of selecting the best stuff that should make it into the final movie is sometimes heartbreaking. In this particular case I have some portions that had to be cut out completely because they didn’t “flow” with the rest of the video — plus I was really trying to keep it under 1hr. We love your flow but we also love how #realworldsex doesn’t need to happen like it does in the movies to be crazy hot! Feel free to leave more in next time! xo Madam Curator

I had 3.5 hours of material (each part was shot with 2-3 cameras simultaneously) – some of which was clearly in between stuff not only the goodies. I took one of these “extra” scenes and threw it into the intro, because I found it hilarious and I hope you will too. Yes, yes, yes! We love in-between moments and bloopers. While the final video is all glorified and beautiful – we are regular people just trying to have fun with it. So sometimes funny things happen and we laugh our butts off. This one by far is my favorite “blooper” so far.

Since the lighting we used was incandescent and warm it gave all the scenes a bit of a golden glow. I decided to take it a step up and rendered all the clips into vibrant sepia but didn’t erase other colors – so you can still see the blues and greens whenever they appear. I have a lot of new ideas for the future – now that I have a decent handle on the programs I am using.

I never would have learned all of this if it wasn’t for the motivation to make the movies look and feel a certain way. I had these programs for years and never really had a reason to mess with video editing. And now that I opened that chapter – I learned something new and have another creative tool in my toolbox. With each new video I feel like my wings are spreading wider and I can do more and better each time. And that’s a good feeling.

I also watch movies and shows now with a new appreciation for the editors, directors, camera men and all the work that goes into making it look good in the end. I look at colors, lighting and sequences with my mouth open at times, because I SEE now and I APPRECIATE much more. Always took it for granted. No more!

And needless to say I cannot stomach porn videos at this point. Period. I don’t think I can ever watch it again with the same mindless hunger for satisfaction. I want more out of it now. I want passion. I want beauty. I want love. And you know where it is? Right here on MLNP. I am really grateful for the chain of events that led us to the NYC Porn Film Festival and MLNP. We were inspired to inspire in return. And if that’s not art then I don’t know what is.

Featured in a mini documentary for Bustle, we’re so excited to see them tell the story of how they came to MLNP.tv.

First introduced to MLNP and its mission when they attended the NYC Porn Film Festival, Rickat had the unique experience of being able to hear Cindy speak about MLNP.tv’s mission, listen to myself and Assistant Curator Ariel Martinez talk about our curation process, and watch a variety of videos from our MLNPstars, including both intro videos and full-on #realworldsex videos. The reaction from the NYC PFF audience was better than we could have hoped for, with every single video we screened receiving a round of applause. We were elated and hoped that we’d inspired some future MLNPstars to get filming!

Enter Rickat.

Compelled by what they saw and heard, this creative married couple sprung into action, making more time to make love, while also filming their #realworldsex with multiple cameras to capture as much of the experience as possible. In a fever of inspiration, Kat taught herself how to edit video, and by the time she and Rick submitted their first #realworldsex masterpiece to MLNP.tv, they had experienced what she describes as a “sexplosion” in their marriage. There’s so much freedom of expression in the bedroom, the needs are anticipated and fulfilled to satisfaction and going with the flow is the name of the game. And that’s how we play when we record – we take a day off, we set the cameras, dress up for flair and then just make love.

When we originally heard about the interest to make a documentary about a NYC couple that is part of the MLNP community, we were truly honored by the nomination to participate. It raised a few questions for us in terms of keeping our identities private, whether we would be able to keep our masks on, etc. but once we had those details sorted out we were fully on board.

We met with Bustle crew the first time to talk about the project and bounce creative ideas off of each other. The authors had a rough concept of what and how they wanted to show everything and we filled in the blanks. Most importantly, we had a long discussion about #realworldsex vs porn and what it means in today’s internet infused reality to record your most intimate moments and post them online to share with others. We had  good chemistry with the crew and felt really comfortable opening up about our take on the topic.

They returned a few weeks later on a day we were planning to shoot a new video, as capturing the preparatory process and method was of utmost interest to them. I put on my make-up, mask and the wig and we had an impromptu interview. Most importantly we showed our technical set up which was surprisingly unobtrusive and intimate. We have never talked to anyone about this before and certainly not on camera so it was quite interesting to share our secrets in such a manner. We had agreed ahead of time that we would not be shooting any of our typical stuff while the crew was there – since that might have been awkward and totally against our belief of capturing the #realworldsex which, after all, normally does not happen in front of a live audience. So as we were all set and ready to go at it, we said goodbye to our guests and went on to enjoy what we do quite well on our own.

The final time we met with the Bustle crew was during the creative process of editing the video. As I had some “post- production” ideas and was running into road block after road block, we talked about the challenges of making artistic decisions and final selections of what makes it into the video. At the moment the movie is still not completed due to personal reasons, but I hope to get back to it in the near future.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. As a couple of exhibitionists at heart we really had no problem baring our souls with regards to the motivation and the process behind making movies for MLNP. The most surprising part for me was having three strangers watching me edit quite graphic scenes of myself and my husband on my computer and feeling absolutely no shame.

We hope that the final documentary normalizes, explains the motivation and gives all the best reasons for why anyone should consider joining our MLNP community of regular people who after all are like everyone else– if a bit more shameless than most.

In our newest video we explore the startup company, which is currently in beta testing and rapidly gaining popularity, and we talk to a couple of MakeLoveNotPorn stars about what it’s like to make sex videos for the Internet.

MakeLoveNotPorn (or MLNP) is something of an anomaly: Though the website is quickly establishing itself in the porn community, MLNP is completely antithetical to the type of porn most people think of when they think of porn: Raunchy, male-centric sexfests that often leave the viewer feeling kind of queasy after watching.

MLNP aims to be the exact opposite of that.
